About Genesis
Genesis is still a relatively new name in the UK, but it comes from a car company most buyers already know. It’s Hyundai’s premium brand, created to sit above the regular Hyundai range in much the same way that Lexus sits above Toyota. That gives Genesis a useful starting point, even if the badge itself is still building recognition here.
In the UK, Genesis has tried to stand out by doing things a little differently from the usual premium brands. Its cars tend to focus on comfort, equipment and a calm, well-finished cabin rather than trying to be especially sporty. The range has included saloons, estates and SUVs, with electric models such as the GV60, Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 becoming a bigger part of the brand’s story.
For buyers, Genesis is most likely to appeal if you want something premium but don’t particularly want an Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz. The cars usually come well equipped, and the brand has also put a lot of emphasis on ownership support, including warranty cover, servicing and customer care. That can be useful if you like the idea of a more personal experience, but it also means Genesis has to keep proving itself against rivals with much stronger badge recognition.
The main challenge is familiarity. Hyundai has become a well-established mainstream brand in the UK, but Genesis is still much less widely recognised. This page brings together all of our Genesis coverage in one place, including Expert Ratings, reviews, news and feature articles, so you can compare the range and see where the brand fits in the premium car market.
