About Ineos
Ineos Automotive is not a normal car brand, and the Grenadier is not a normal family SUV. It was created as a tough, old-school 4×4 for buyers who want serious off-road ability, simple-looking design and a vehicle that feels closer in spirit to older utility off-roaders than most modern SUVs.
That makes the Grenadier interesting, but it also makes it difficult to judge in the same way as a regular family car. If you spend a lot of time off-road, towing, working in remote places or driving across rough ground, the things that make the Grenadier heavy, expensive and less refined on the road may be part of the trade-off. If most of your driving is school runs, commuting and motorway trips, many other SUVs will be easier to live with.
Our Expert Rating reflects that difference. The Grenadier scores poorly because it is expensive to own and run, with weak fuel economy, high emissions and expensive insurance. It also does not have the same breadth of ability as many similarly priced SUVs if you are judging it as everyday transport. That is not the same as saying it has no purpose, but it is saying that its purpose is much narrower than most cars we rate.
For the right buyer, the Grenadier may make sense. For many others, it will be too compromised, too expensive or simply the wrong tool for the job. This page brings together all of our Ineos coverage in one place, including Expert Ratings, reviews, news and feature articles, so you can see how the Grenadier compares and whether its specialist appeal matches the way you actually use a car.
