Why is a Kia Sportage retail price £26,000 and a Mercedes B Class of the same value so different in price when leasing?
I was quoted £297 p/month inc VAT for Kia but £397 for Merc.
Same duration 3 years same deposit £2,000.
I expected either the same or Merc to be lower due to higher residual. Slur at end of term.

    Thanks

Hi Simon. Leasing quotes can be difficult to judge because you don’t see the detail of how the numbers are worked out. It may be that, although the retail prices of the two cars are similar, Kia is subsidising the Sportage more than Mercedes-Benz is for the B-Class. It may also depend on who the leasing company is – the manufacturer’s own finance division or a large leasing company.

If you are getting quotes on specific vehicles, as opposed to indicative quotes on your desired model, that there is a deal going on a particular vehicle in stock to get it out the door before the end of the month.

Also make absolutely sure that the terms of the lease are exactly the same for both vehicles – especially if the quotes are from different companies. There may be other fees or charges not mentioned, and it’s not unusual for leasing companies to ‘accidentally’ reduce the mileage or quote you on the wrong model.
