    Hi all,

I have a Pug 107 and last week on a back road hit some black ice and went off the road. The mud guard over the front-passenger wheel snapped off, prising the bumper off that side – that I’m not worried about as I can fix those myself. But what I can’t fix (or wouldn’t want to try to fix) is that a steel stanchion (circled on the attached image) buckled, and the bumper won’t now afix to the fixing points marked with a ‘X’ due to the deformation.

    Damage

The tracking, braking, and general mechanics of the car are 100% fine. My question is, is that buckling of that area circled an MOT failure? If so, is it fixable or is it an insurance claim?

I would like to get advice here before approaching a garage – because at least here it would be impartial rather than thoughts of £££ on the mind.

    Thanks for your help.
