I was driving along earlier today when ‘Little Red Corvette’ came on the radio, and though to myself – how many car-related songs are there in the world?

There are the obvious ones like Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin and Pink Cadillac by Aretha Franklin. But how many more are there?

Can we have a prize for most obscure and/or tenuous link to cars in a song?

Can we have car-related puns of song names? I’m thinking of Dire Straits’ famous song “Alfa Romeo & Juliet”. Or was it “Romeo & Giulietta”?

Surprised no one’s mentioned the song Drive by The Cars.

No, because you probably just used up both of them. :)

The confusingly titled “My House” by Joe Jackson. It is like the opening segment of Michael Douglas’ “Falling Down”, but in song form.

Though, it’s not as bouncy as this…

"Who do you think is the most capable?"

    "Capable of what?"

    Ah, of course!

    And…

    Van Halen – Panama

    and

    Sammy Hagar – I can’t Drive 55

    a particularly rubbish song…

Kenny Loggins’ ‘Danger Zone’ was about cars and driving, rather than US Navy Fighter Planes or homoerotic beach volleyball, as most people seem to believe.

There really was nothing wrong with believing it to be about homoerotic beach volleyball but you just had to go and spoil it!

I just reminded myself that Joe Jackson did a whole car related LP as the OST to the Jeff Bridges film “Tucker: The Man and his Dream”, for which Joe Jackson was awarded a grammy.

How did I forget that one, seeing as I learnt the riff for it this week!
