My company will ship one car with me on the trip. I will also get fuel off-economy so gas mileage really isnt a concern.
Im not sure how the public transportation or weather is so this will also factor in. Do most places you rent have a covered garage?
I will only have one car with me, what car should I bring?
Was thinking about the following (I will be buying used):
C6 Corvette Z06, but dont think it will be of any use in winter ;p
I want something that will be fun, doesnt have to be too practical and would rather buy the car in the US and have the company ship it over due to cars being cheaper here.
Any other forums I should check out?

Hi dlauth. Generally public transport in England around most major centres is pretty good, but it always depends on where you are going to live.
You will be in for a shock with regard to vehicle provisions. Plenty of places (especially rentals) have no parking allocation whatsoever, and for others it may be communal parking or simply a bit of space in front of the house. Newer places will generally have vehicle provisions, but there is generally much less space available than in America.
Make sure you do your sums carefully so that you’re confident it does advantage you to bring a car. Having a LHD car in a RHD country can be a pain, so you want to be very sure that you are saving a lot of money to make it worth the hassle of driving the car in traffic. You will also have to go through a compliance process to make sure the car is legal for the UK (eg – having the headlights flicked across for RHD travel).
As for your choice of vehicle, a C6 Vette is wonderful and they are a rarity here (largely because Chevrolet don’t build them in RHD), but that may also make servicing and and warranty/repair work more difficult. There are very few Chevrolet dealers in the UK (and they’re closing shortly since Chevy is pulling out of Europe), and most of them will have never seen a Corvette, so you will be in the hands of a few independent specialists and the one official importer based up in Manchester somewhere. There are BMW and Porsche dealers all over the place, plus plenty of independent specialists, so it would probably make running one of those easier for you.
If you’re planning on buying a used car, it may not be significantly cheaper anyway. Vehicle depreciation in the UK is pretty high, so used cars can be fairly cheap – even for 911s and Caymans, depending on the specification.

I believe my company will ship a car to England and one back to the states but will not ship one back if you didnt bring one.
Your correct on having to get the car to UK spec and im not sure if the company pays that. I will have to find out.
I suppose I should only bring a car if:
Its something that would be cheaper in the states
Not available in England aka Corvette
Am wanting to ship a car back to the states without paying
Any idea if it would be cheaper to upkeep a BMW/Porsche in England than it would be in the states?

Maintenance is probably not that different for BMWs and Porsches, unless there is a major difference in labour rates.

Didnt know if because BMW/Porsches were more common in England than US and also German parts are alot closer, if the maintenance would be cheaper.
I have been browsing the UK autotrader and am pretty supprised how close the price of the cars are.
The M5 in the UK is alot cheaper than here!
It also looks like I may make a pretty penny by importing a c6z and selling it once in country.
How is the demand for corvettes? Would I be able to sell it rather easy?

Corvette demand in the UK is largely limited by the fact it is not built in RHD. There is a niche market for it in Europe – you see dozens upon dozens of them at Le Mans every year.
It may be that it works out well to bring a Vette with you, and if you can’t sell it for a decent price then ship it home – especially if the firm is paying the transportation costs each way.
(I’d quite like a C6 ZR1, if you’d like to make a kind donation…)
;) Dont think a ZR1 is in the cards.
Will it be an issue driving the vette all year round?
