Three friends and I are in the early stages of planning a fully overland driving trip in a Land Rover Discovery 1 Full Camel trophy spec, the route how ever does seem to be quite dangerous as it passes through Northern Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The full list of countries is UK to continental Europe – Belarus- Russia – Kazakhstan – Kyrgyzstan – Tajikistan – Afghanistan (wakhen corridor) – Pakistan – India – Nepal – India – Burma – Thailand – Malaysia then get the Land Rover shipped back to the UK.
The reason that we are not going through China is due to cost at around £5000.
Is this the best route to take or are there any suggestions on what to change and what to look out for and so on?

Alternatives would be to avoid Afganistan, by going through southern Iran( Uk citizens might need escort at similar cost to china), or to go through China for a short period of time, entering Pakistan from Kashgarand and the Karakorum Highway, only need escort for 2/3 days.
