Hi, I have nearly reached the sun on my car finance were I can use the V.T agreement on my contract. I phoned my finance company to check my options and they sent me forms I send back if I want to v.t, going over the forms it said I need a service history for the car, my problem is I haven’t had my car serviced (stupid I know). I was going to service the car before handing it back but reading online I’m worried about how it will affect me handing the car back or any bills I will get from them, any ideas what I can do or what to expect? I’m with gmac finance which I’ve read bad things about. Thanks

Hi Taitso. If you have not got a full manufacturer service history, then the finance company will definitely try and charge you a penalty. For more information, have a read of our in-depth article on voluntary termination.
