The Car Expert no longer operates as a car buying agency, but several testimonial articles are still available on the website to provide helpful advice for car buyers.
Adnan, of North London, had recently obtained his driving licence and was now looking to buy his first car. However, he quickly found that there were a bewildering number of cars in his budget, and he had no idea which would be the best one for him.
Having googled for car advice, Adnan came across TheCarExpert.co.uk and realised that he had found the exact service he needed. Adnan wanted help to choose the right first car for his needs, and also help to go out and buy it. So he quickly contacted The Car Expert to see about getting the assistance he was looking for.
Choosing the perfect first car
Using his unique Driver Analysis, Stuart from TheCarExpert.co.uk took plenty of time to understand exactly what Adnan needed for a first car. Using this information, Stuart submitted a shortlist of cars to Adnan for his consideration. The two cars which worked out to be most suitable were the Ford Fiesta and Toyota Yaris, with the Vauxhall Corsa a reasonable choice as well.
Having decided on the sort of car they would look for, the problem turned out to be finding a good quality car within Adnan’s budget. Whilst there was no shortage of cars for sale, it was difficult to try and find cars that had a detailed service history and were in good condition. Several cars had previously been written off after accidents and repaired. Whilst this is not illegal, it is certainly not desirable if the car has suffered any significant damage.
In the end, Stuart accompanied Adnan to inspect three different cars across London before they found one which was as good as its advertisement promised. Fortunately, Adnan had planned carefully and allowed plenty of time for buying his first car, which meant he could be patient and wait for the right car to come along rather than rush into taking the first car he looked at.
Stuart said “It was very frustrating to speak to dealers who either tried to mislead me or omit important information when I called them about the car. When Adnan and I went to visit the first three cars we had liked the look of, we found that they were either not as described or had other significant issues.”
Buyer Beware – Cars are not always as they seem
Adnan was certainly glad to have expert professional advice as he inspected the cars. “Without Stuart’s advice, I probably would have just taken the first car I looked at, as it seemed OK. But Stuart noticed that it was making some odd noises and that the electric windows weren’t working properly.” The paintwork was also badly speckled with stone chips all over the bonnet, bumper and front wings, despite the dealer advertising that the car’s paintwork was ‘top notch’!
The second car had clearly been repainted, badly, over a large section of the bodywork. Despite initially denying it over the phone, the dealer eventually admitted that the car had previously been a Category C write-off and had been repaired. This is becoming very common nowadays, as proper repairs for even minor damage can cost more than the car is worth, so insurance companies will simply write the car off. However, if the repair is done poorly (which is often the case, as it is usually done as cheaply as possible to get the car on sale), the car may have further problems which have not been properly sorted.
Finally, Stuart found a lovely little Toyota Yaris which ticked all the right boxes for Adnan’s first car needs. The dealer was very helpful and happy to show Adnan all the history and registration information. After a thorough viewing and test drive, Stuart was delighted to finally be able to give Adnan the thumbs-up to go ahead and purchase the car. Mind you, the dramas didn’t end there, as Adnan’s bank blocked the funds transfer when he tried to pay! This happens a lot these days, as anti-fraud mechanisms can be activated when large transactions are made on a card. Fortunately, after a couple of phone calls and a visit to the nearest branch, it was all sorted out and Adnan was able to pay for his new car.
With the car ready to go and newly insured, Adnan decided to avail himself of The Car Expert’s short-term storage facility while he got his council parking permit sorted out. So after a couple more days of waiting, he was finally able to take his car home. Before driving off, Stuart gave Adnan a comprehensive tutorial on every aspect of his car’s controls and features, so that he didn’t have to frantically try and find the wipers or headlights as he was driving along.
Adnan is delighted with his first car, and is pleased he decided to use The Car Expert to help him buy it. “People like me need The Car Expert to help make good buying decisions, and it saved me a lot of time and anxiety. It’s practically a public service to Londoners!”
