    Hi Stuart,

I’ve read lots in your forums about cars and engines.

I recently bought an Audi A3 (2014) TDI 1.6 Sport Diesel with only 25K miles on it. And I do very low mileage(max 20 miles city driving) during the week and occasional long drives.

One of my friends suggested that If I don’t use my car often, the DPF will clog up and cause significant damage and repairs.

Can you please suggest if that’s true.

    Thanks,
    Chiru

Hi Chiru. It’s certainly possible, but it depends how often you are taking the car out for a longer drive where the DPF system has a chance to clean itself out.

For more information, have a read of our guide to the diesel particulate filter.
