Today my brother and I went to inspect a used car ( ford ka 2005 1.3 ) my brother noticed that the coolant level was well below the minimum level line (there was coolant in there) he recommended
that we should walk away from the car without test driving it. so we did

I’m thinking was that the right decision ? was it that big of a deal?

Yes, I think it was the right decision. There are hundreds of Ford Kas available for sale in the UK at any one time, so it’s not exactly a rarity.

Low coolant level can lead to expensive engine failures. You have no idea how long the car may have been running with little or no coolant, which could have caused significant engine damage. Or at the very least, it has a serious leak somewhere which could be expensive to fix.
