Hi Lyndsey. The new VED rules will put the costs of road tax up for most vehicles, whether petrol or diesel.
It’s fair to say that the tide is turning against diesels, but whether this will make a significant difference to the petrol vs. diesel argument over the next decade is hard to say at this time. For now, I would say that if you are buying a new car, doing more than 10,000 miles per year and you plan to keep the car for more than three years, a diesel is still probably a better bet.
If you like the Kia, then it’s probably worth accepting a diesel engine instead of buying a car you don’t like to get a petrol engine.
