Hi all advice if you can help please my son 21yr old had an accident 2 days ago (his fault) and car is at body shop for repair under his insurance my concern is his policy is due for renewal in 2 weeks and if we don’t renew with the current insurer (who’s loaded his premium by 2k) but the car is still in repair how do I stand? Can we insure the car with another firm and does the current firm have a duty to complete the work even if we go elsewhere. Any help would be great.

Yes, you can switch insurers at the end of your current policy. It should not affect your current claim and repair, as the accident and claim occurred while you were insured with the current provider.

Obviously you will have to declare the accident in any new application, so you may find it’s not much cheaper to switch.
