So I’m going to be buying a BMW 1 Series 116d which has 116bhp and 191 lb/ft of torque.
Is 116bhp a good amount of horsepower?
Hi Connor. It very much depends on your needs.
The 116d is the entry-level diesel engine in the BMW 1 Series range, but it is probably perfectly adequate for one or two people pottering around in local traffic.
For regular motorway driving, or if you are taking four people and/or a lot of luggage, it will feel quite sluggish under acceleration but will still cruise quite happily once you’re up to speed.
