So I’ve just bought a new car and when it gets delivered it will be a 67 registration plate.
I know the way car registrations work with the first two letters being an area code (in my case, SA-SJ) and the 67 relating to time of first registration.
What I’m interested in is the last 3 letters – the randomly generated ones.

So I’ve been told that you can change the last 3 letters if you request to do so before the car is registered, which would be great if it’s true.
Does anyone know if there is any truth in this or if it’s completely false. If true, how do I go about doing it?

      Thanks.

Hi John. Usually the dealership will be allocated a set of registration numbers, so you will be able to look through what the dealer has and select from that list. But generally, you can’t pick any three digits you like.
