My son bought a used car on 01.08.18, £9,000 paid in full at time of collection. He took the car back for a service in January 2019 as requested by the garage. It was at this point they requested £900 for repairs. The problem was because there was no heating etc (we were unaware as the summer was hot so the heating was not required).
When the heating was turned back on the coolant started to leak somewhere. We now know that this was an issue with the car before we purchased it as the previous owner only had the vehicle for 2 months before returning it for the same reasons as we are now experiencing. I’m concerned that they turned off the heating to get around the issues.
We are still experiencing the same issues and the vehicle has now been back to the garage 4 times since January and all they keep doing is to top up the coolant and state that they cannot find a fault.
The vehicle warning light has now come on and the manual advises not to drive the vehicle, our promises of a call back has not happened twice in the last 2 weeks.
We are having the car delivered back to the garage where upon delivery we will be showing them again that the vehicle is faulty and that we want to reject the vehicle.
Do we request a rejection for under 6 months or over 6 months as the problems where brought to their attention within 6 months by ourselves and the previous owner and we have the service history to prove that this fault was present before we purchased it but we not informed.
It has caused lots of issues as we have had to take time off from work as we had no vehicle and when they did provide a vehicle we could not take it to work as we required new permit passes would could not be issued for single days.
