I bought a car from car supermarket backed by consumer right act a week ago. I took the vehicle to an approved dealer for an outstanding recall. They told me it needs a soft ware update. When they tried to update the car it completely shut down. They have also tried changing the unit which caused the same issue. The car has manufacturer warranty until dec 2018. I am confused how to proceed. Can I reject this car ? If i can then is it the dealer who will refund / replace the car or the car supermarket ? Please advice

Hi Sal. If you are pursuing a claim through the Consumer Rights Act for a faulty car at point of sale, your argument is with the selling dealer.

If you are claiming that the dealer performing the update has broken the car, your claim will be against that dealer.
