The Car Expert no longer operates as a car buying agency, but several testimonial articles are still available on the website to provide helpful advice for car buyers.

Rachel really needed a new car to replace her ageing Toyota Corolla.  She had been looking around at a few different vehicles, but was not especially inspired and didn’t really have a lot of time to research the marketplace more thoroughly.  So, despite living on the other side of the planet (in Adelaide, South Australia), she got in touch with The Car Expert to help her choose a new car.

The Car Expert and Rachel discussed the cars she had looked at already, what sort of features she wanted on her next car that she didn’t have on her old car, and what her general requirements for a new car would be.

Rachel’s needs included a rapidly-growing six-year-old daughter and her dog, as well as carrying a rowing boat and oars on roof racks from time to time.  She would be doing a variety of city and country driving.

She had a very clear budget planned out and was concerned that she wouldn’t get everything she wanted within that budget.

Car dealers had also been trying to push lots of extras on her which they insisted she absolutely needed to have but added many hundreds of dollars to the cost of the car.  Fortunately, The Car Expert was able to cut through the sales spin and made sure Rachel wasn’t going to pay for anything she wouldn’t need.

The Car Expert collated all the information about Rachel’s needs into the unique TCE Driver Analysis report, and looked into all the different cars and latest offers available in the South Australian car market.

The Car Expert recommended three cars for Rachel to consider, with the Mazda 3 ranked highest.  He also provided plenty of test driving and car negotiation advice for Rachel.

Of the three cars recommended, Rachel chose the Mazda 3, and because she bought an ex-demonstrator model with just a few hundred kilometres on the clock from her local dealer, she saved thousands on the price of a new car.

Rachel is thrilled with her new car, and had this to say about her car buying experience using The Car Expert’s expert car advice:

“I really wasn’t looking forward to buying a new car and had been putting it off for far too long.   When I finally got around to visiting some car dealers, they didn’t seem to take me seriously or blatantly avoided answering my questions directly.  It was very frustrating.

“I contacted The Car Expert to get some impartial advice and recommendations.  He asked lots of detailed questions about what sort of driving I would be doing, and we talked about my old car for a while to compare what I had with what I wanted.

Based on that discussion, The Car Expert sent me my personalised Driver Analysis report, which compared all the cars within my budget which suited my needs.  He also showed me some advertised examples of each car.

“The Car Expert’s comprehensive car advice gave me a clear understanding of the merits of each car, and plenty of ammunition to negotiate a deal with the car dealers.  Proving that knowledge is power, I was able to haggle my way to a deal that was much better than I thought I could ever get.”

  1. So this girl contacted you from Australia for car advice? Is there no-one in all of Australia she could have asked???

    • Hi Jeannete,

As far as I know, there’s nothing quite like The Car Expert in Adelaide, and I don’t know about other cities in Australia. And with the internet, it doesn’t really matter if you are talking to someone 12 metres or 12,000 miles away, so why not? I have had someone contact me from New Zealand as well, to arrange to buy a car in the UK and then have it sent over to him.

  2. How did it work with you being in United Kingdom and the lady being in Australia? Did it make job much harder?

    • Hi Otis. Rachel and I e-mailed back and forth and also chatted via Facebook messenger/chat over a period of weeks regarding her car options. It would have been nicer to do everything in person, but we got there well enough using technology instead. stuart

  3. Oh, forgot to mention – the Mazda was clearly the best car within my budget when I was looking, and I have a young child and dog to consider as well. Unfortunately buying one proved to be a battle with the dealership over my trade in price and finance. It was a very uncomfortable experience, and I would have gladly paid someone to do all that for me.
