17 October 2013: Today marks two years since The Car Expert first saw the light of day.
Initially beginning in 2011 as a car buying service to help people of London purchase a new or used car, the site has since transformed into a blogsite full of advice, assistance and news from all around the automotive world.
From the middle of last year, we also started accepting guest blogs from other writers, and we now have over 100 articles from 40 different writers featured on the site.
Growth of the site has been huge over the last year since we switched to a blog format, and today we welcome five times the number of visitors we did a year ago. We currently see just short of 20,000 visitors per month to The Car Expert, with just over 77% of those from the United Kingdom, but we have been seen in 181 countries in total. We also have just under 1,000 followers on Twitter, over 170 on Facebook and over 250 on Google+. The Car Expert has also been ranked as the UK’s #2 automotive blog by social media analysts Cision UK.
We have also introduced advertising to the site, and now feature advertisements and sponsored articles from the likes of Honda, Alfa Romeo, Comparethemarket.com, Buyagift.com and many more. As well as financially supporting the running of the site, our sponsors have provided some fantastic prizes for competitions, such as our current competition to win a supercar driving experience at one of six famous British race tracks.
In April we launched a forum for visitors to ask questions and discuss various motoring issues. As the site keeps growing, we hope to direct the many enquiries that we currently get via e-mail across to the forum so we can provide a larger knowledge base for car buyers.
It’s been a busy and sometimes bumpy road, but thank you to everybody who has helped along the way. I look forward to many more years for The Car Expert.
