Summary

The McLaren 600LT is a high-performance sports car available that was offered as both a coupé and convertible (Spider). It is based on the McLaren Sports Series (540C and 570S).

Rather than specify a number of cars for their production runs, McLaren announced that each of the Coupé and Spider would be produced for a year at its plant in Woking, Surrey. Production of the Spider ended in 2020 and the entire McLaren Sports Series is being renewed in 2021, commencing with the launch of the new McLaren Artura to replace the 570S.

Both the McLaren 600LT and 600LT Spider received unanimously positive reviews from the UK motoring media, with considerable praise for their driving dynamics and performance.

No longer on sale, the McLaren 600LT holds a Used Car Expert Rating of C, with a score of 60%. Although it earned superb review scores from motoring journalists for its driving dynamics, its very high running costs and CO2 emissions inevitably drag its overall score down.

No eco rating

The McLaren Sports Series (540C, 570S and 600LT) was not lab tested by Green NCAP during its production life.

The McLaren 600LT is an unsurprisingly expensive car to own and run, according to whole-life cost numbers provided exclusively to The Car Expert by our data partner, Clear Vehicle Data.

We only have a limited amount of data available for the 600LT as it’s no longer in production, but we know that fuel consumption and servicing costs are also very high. However, this is unlikely to put off anyone considering buying a used 600LT, so McLaren is unlikely to be too concerned.
