About GWM
GWM stands for Great Wall Motor, one of China’s larger car companies. In the UK, though, it is still a relatively unfamiliar name. The company first arrived here with the Ora 03 electric hatchback, originally called the Ora Funky Cat, but that car struggled to make much of an impression and has now been withdrawn.
For the moment, GWM’s UK range is centred on the Haval Jolion Pro, a small hybrid SUV. It sits in a busy part of the market, where buyers already have plenty of familiar choices from brands like Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and MG. The Haval Jolion Pro offers a strong value argument, but it also has to work harder than those established names because GWM is still building awareness with British buyers.
That makes GWM a slightly different case from some of the other Chinese brands now arriving in the UK. It is a large car company with plenty of experience globally, but its UK progress has been more modest so far. More models are expected, although the details are still limited, so it is too early to say how strongly the brand will establish itself here.
This page brings together all of our GWM coverage in one place, including Expert Ratings, reviews, news and feature articles, so you can follow the brand’s UK plans and see how its current models compare.
