About Geely
Geely is still a new badge in UK showrooms, but the company behind it is already a major name in the car industry. Geely owns or has major stakes in Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and LEVC (the company behind London’s electric black taxis). So while British buyers may only just be seeing the Geely name on cars, the wider group has been part of the UK market for years.
The first Geely-branded cars here are aimed at the family SUV market. The EX5 is a mid-sized electric SUV, while the Starray adds a plug-in hybrid option. That gives Geely a fairly practical starting point: roomy, well-equipped SUVs for buyers who are looking at electric or partly electric cars but may not yet have a strong attachment to the badge.
For UK buyers, the question is less about whether Geely is a serious company and more about how quickly the brand can build recognition in its own right. The group already has plenty of car-making experience, but a new badge still has to earn trust on the things that matter day-to-day, such as dealer support, software, resale values and the general ownership experience.
Geely is arriving in a crowded market, with established brands and newer Chinese rivals all chasing many of the same buyers. This page brings together all of our Geely coverage in one place, including Expert Ratings, reviews, news and feature articles, so you can compare the range and see how the brand develops in the UK.
