MG has announced a series of updates for its 3 hatchback, ZS compact SUV and HS family SUV, including revisions to its Hybrid+ powertrain and additional standard equipment.
The most significant mechanical changes apply to ‘Hybrid+’ versions of the MG3 and ZS. MG has revised the electric traction motor and generator in an effort to reduce noise and vibration and improve sustained performance.
The basic hybrid system is unchanged, retaining its 2kWh battery and three-speed automatic transmission. The MG3 ‘Hybrid+’ continues to produce 194hp, while the ZS ‘Hybrid+’ produces 196hp.
More equipment for MG 3 and ZS
Changes to the MG 3 are otherwise fairly minor, with new upholstery across the range. ‘SE’ gets redesigned black cloth seats, while ‘Trophy Hybrid+’ receives new leather- and suede-style upholstery.
The MG 3 ‘Hybrid+’ is available to order now, priced from £20k for ‘SE’ and £22k for ‘Trophy’. The updated petrol MG 3 will follow later in 2026, starting at £18k.
The ZS receives a longer list of equipment upgrades. ‘SE Hybrid+’ now includes a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors and wireless phone charging, while ‘Trophy Hybrid+’ gains an opening panoramic roof and powered tailgate.
Both trims receive revised upholstery, while ‘Emerald Green’ has been added to the exterior colour range. The updated MG ZS is available now, with prices starting at over £21k for the petrol ‘SE’ and £24k for the ‘SE Hybrid+’.
MG HS now better equipped as standard
There are no announced powertrain changes for the larger MG HS, which continues with petrol, ‘Hybrid+’ and plug-in hybrid options.
Instead, MG has expanded the standard equipment. ‘SE’ versions now include heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless phone charging and one-touch operation for all four electric windows. Trophy adds ventilated front seats and an opening panoramic roof.
A 360-degree camera is now standard across the range, along with a function that automatically tilts the door mirrors downwards when reversing to give the driver a better view of the kerb.
The interior upholstery has also been updated, while ‘Arctic Blue’ becomes the standard exterior colour and two new metallic finishes join the range.
Prices start at over £27k for the petrol HS, above £30k for the ‘Hybrid+’ and over £33k for the plug-in hybrid. ‘Trophy’ trim costs an additional £2,500 with each powertrain.
The updated MG HS is available to order now, with the first revised plug-in hybrid models expected to reach MG dealerships by mid-October.
