Volkswagen has added a new Match trim to the second-generation T-Roc range, offering several bits of extra equipment over the lead-in ‘Life’ trim for a slightly higher upfront price.
Available with two mild hybrid petrol engines, the new specification slots between Life and Style and continues Volkswagen’s long-running use of the Match badge for models that bundle popular options together at a relatively small premium.
More equipment than the Life
Compared with ‘Life’, the ‘Match’ has been given larger 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel with gearshift paddles.
It also adds rear privacy glass, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, satnav and Volkswagen’s ‘IDA’ voice assistant. Two versions are offered, both using Volkswagen’s 1.5-litre eTSI mild hybrid petrol engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Buyers can choose between 116hp and 150hp outputs.
The addition of Match means the latest T-Roc range now consists of four trim choices, culminating with the top-spec ‘R-Line’. Volkswagen has also confirmed that a new full hybrid powertrain will join the range in the future.
Pricing and availability
The Volkswagen T-Roc Match will be available to order from 13th August.
The 116hp ‘Match’ costs just over £32k, while the 150hp version is £34k. In both cases that’s £500 more than the equivalent ‘Life’.
The Volkswagen T-Roc holds a New Car Expert Rating of A, with a score of 72%. Beyond the car’s positive set of review scores, this overall rating is bolstered by Euro NCAP safety credentials and reasonable predicted running costs.
