5. Vauxhall Corsa (2016: 2nd)
Vauxhall’s other representative in the ten best-selling cars of 2017 is the Corsa supermini hatchback, and it has the unfortunate title of biggest fall in sales in this list. The Corsa took a battering this year, dropping more than 24,000 units or 38% on the previous year. (52,772 registrations in 2017 vs. 77,110 in 2016). Ranking wise, the Corsa fell from second place in 2016 to fifth in the best-selling cars of 2017.
The coming year doesn’t look any better for the Corsa. The all-new Ford Fiesta is hitting its straps now that supply is fully up to speed, and there are many newer (and better) rivals on the market. The Corsa is not a bad car, but it’s not up to the levels of rivals like the new Volkswagen Polo, SEAT Ibiza or the all-conquering Fiesta.
