Summary
The Vauxhall Corsa GSE is a battery-powered hot hatchback and the performance-enhanced version of the Corsa Electric, which became available to order in the UK in Autumn 2026.
Compared with the standard Corsa Electric range where power tops out at 156hp, the Corsa GSE features a much stronger front electric motor producing 281hp, accelerating from 0–62mph in 5.5 seconds.
The hot hatch also comes with It features a lower, stiffer sports suspension setup and upgraded brakes and a limited slip differential for added high speed traction, as well as a few unique cosmetic touches.
Part of a growing but limited number of battery-powered hot hatch choices in the UK, Parker’s CJ Hubbard praises the Corsa GSE for “quicker than any of its competitors yet costs less than them as well”, while The Car Expert’s own Andrew Charman concludes that the Vauxhall offers “real pace and grip” with the trade of being “some comfort and battery range compromises.”
Pointing out that the GSE is Vauxhall’s first hot hatch offering in over a decade, Evo’s Antony Ingram comments that, while it’s quick in a straight line, it lacks the “dynamic finesse” of more conventional petrol-powered offerings.
“The Corsa GSE isn’t quite as wild as some of its ancestors”, says Electrifying.com’s James Batchelor, who reminices about slightly unruly and enormous fun Vauxhall performance models of years gone by, “but the spark is definitely back.”

“Vauxhall has had a fair crack at the burgeon compact electric hot hatch market here, and it is great to see the brand returning to building feisty little performance cars. The Corsa GSE is fast, it’s well equipped, and to these eyes it looks pretty good, too.”

“The Vauxhall Corsa GSE combines classic hot hatch character with a modern electric powertrain. A tremendous level of engineering has gone into developing its chassis, resulting in a great fun driving experience – albeit rather uncompromising one on UK roads.”

“With 281hp, the Corsa GSE is more powerful and quicker than any of its competitors yet costs less than them as well. While the driving experience is marred somewhat by the annoyingly bouncy ride and limited steering feedback, if you can put up with this you’ll be getting a lot of speed and grip in return.”

“Quite a lot of what the Corsa GSE does is fun, frenzied and close to fabulous. And it’s surprisingly adept on track, too.”
