About KGM
KGM is the new name for SsangYong, a Korean brand that has been selling cars in the UK for many years without ever becoming a household name. The name changed in 2024, but the broad idea is familiar: practical SUVs and pick-ups aimed at buyers who want plenty of car for the money.
The current KGM range covers small and mid-sized SUVs, larger family models, electric SUVs and pick-ups. Some names, such as Tivoli, Rexton and Musso, will be familiar to people who knew the old SsangYong range. Newer models such as the Torres, Actyon and Torres EVX are part of the brand’s attempt to move the story on under the KGM name.
For UK buyers, KGM’s appeal is usually fairly practical. A model like the Rexton makes sense if you want a large SUV with seven seats and towing ability, while the Musso has traditionally appealed to buyers who need a pick-up for work or rural use. The Torres and Actyon push the brand more towards family SUV buyers, where KGM has to compete with far better-known names.
That is the challenge for KGM. The cars can offer space, equipment and value, but the brand still has to build recognition and trust with buyers who may remember SsangYong only vaguely, if at all. This page brings together all of our KGM coverage in one place, including Expert Ratings, reviews, news and feature articles, so you can compare the range and see how the brand is developing in the UK.
