Summary
Part of the eighth-generation (C8) Corvette range, Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a petrol-electric hybrid all-wheel drive supercar pairing a V8 petrol engine with a front-mounted electric motor.
Although Chevrolet decided to pull the plug on its UK operations over a decade ago, the brand has offered limited stock of its Corvette range in right-hand drive to British supercar enthusiasts for a few years now, selling versions of the E-Ray through third party dealers Lumen Automotive and Arnold Clark since 2025.
Top Gear’s Stephen Dobie praises the Corvette for being “placid and polite to punt around at low speeds” and for its “tangible extra security and tenacity” when you put your foot down, while noting that the car’s hybrid status “does border on feeling like a novelty”, as the E-Ray can only muster around five miles on electric power alone.
Comparing the E-Ray to its Corvette stablemates, Evo’s Yousuf Ashraf prefers the cheaper Stingray model, as its “less busy and frantic than the high revving, flat-plane Z06 and purer to drive than the E-Ray hybrid”, which has a wider stance that the Motoring Research team argues can feel too big on narrow UK roads.
Judged on its merits in isolation, Alex Ingram of Auto Express concludes that the E-Ray is still a supremely capable and well-executed supercar choice. “Not only is the mix of modern e-motor and old-school V8 an addictive, rapid combination, but the E-Ray’s ride, handling, transmission and brakes are all superb, too.”
The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray currently holds a New Car Expert Rating of E, with a score of 53%. While the car’s media reviews are overwhelmingly positive, this overall rating is hindered by very high predicted running costs.

“It seems, then, that chasing usability and making the Corvette E-Ray a more rounded vehicle actually makes it a lesser one. I was fortunate enough to try both a Z06 and a regular Stingray back-to-back with the E-Ray and I came away thinking the electrified ‘Vette was the weakest of the three. By comparison, the Z06 is raw, unforgiving and fierce. But, more importantly, the Stingray felt much more engaging, lighter on its toes and much more relaxed.”

The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is a very expensive car to own and run, according to whole-life cost numbers provided exclusively to The Car Expert by our data partner, Clear Vehicle Data.
With an average fuel consumption of 22mpg, the E-Ray hybrid is very thirsty – even by conventional petrol-powered performance car standards – meaning plenty of visits to the pumps if you intend on regular use.

Chevrolet’s new car warranty is fairly boilerplate, and matching many rival brands in a similar price bracket as the Corvette E-Ray.
The duration is three years, with a limit of 60,000 miles. In addition to the standard new car warranty, this hybrid sports car has an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty for the battery components.
Warranty on a used Chevrolet Corvette
- If you are buying an ‘Approved Used’ Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray from one of Chevrolet’s chosen third-party dealerships in the UK, you are likely to get a minimum 12-month warranty included. This may vary however.
