Summary

the Dacia Spring is a small battery-powered hatchback aimed squarely at the budget end of the electric car market. This is the second-generation version, which is expected to arrive in Uk showrooms in early 2027.

This is an entirely new iteration of the Spring, which replaces the original Spring which has only been on sale for around two years. This predecessor earned widespread praise for its unparalleled EV pricing, but also a heavy dose of reviewer criticism for its underpowered entry-level drivetrain, as well as its poor Euro NCAP safety credentials.

Building on the first generation, Dacia has announced that this new version offers improved performance and battery range, while promising that the Spring will remain one of the cheapest electric car choices in the UK.

There aren’t any foreign or UK-based test drive reviews to present on this page just yet. Once we have collected reviews on the model, and we have running cost estimations to present, we will give Spring an Expert Rating score. Check back soon!

Eco rating

Independent economy and emissions ratings from Green NCAP

No eco rating

As of September 2026, the Dacia Spring has not been assessed by Green NCAP.

The Green NCAP programme measures exhaust pollution (which is zero for an electric car) and energy efficiency. Electric cars are much more energy-efficient than combustion cars, so the Spring is likely to score very highly in Green NCAP testing if and when it takes place. Check back again soon.
