About Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo has always carried more romance than most car brands. Even people who have never owned one tend to know the idea: Italian design, a bit of flair and cars that are meant to feel more interesting than the usual premium choices. That image still matters, but the UK range today is more practical than the old reputation might suggest.

The current line-up includes the Junior small SUV, the Tonale family SUV, the Giulia saloon and the Stelvio SUV, along with Quadrifoglio performance versions for buyers who want the more serious end of the brand. That gives Alfa Romeo a spread of models covering compact crossovers, family cars and performance cars, even if the range is still much smaller than you would find from Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz.

For UK buyers, Alfa Romeo’s appeal is partly about choosing something less obvious. A Giulia or Stelvio is not the default premium choice, and that is part of the point. The brand tends to attract people who want a car with some personality, but still need something that works as a company car, family SUV or everyday premium model.

The challenge is that Alfa Romeo has to balance its enthusiast-friendly image with the cars people are actually buying now. SUVs and crossovers matter far more to the brand’s future than old-fashioned sports saloons, while electric and hybrid models are becoming a bigger part of the picture. The Junior is especially important because it gives Alfa Romeo a smaller, more accessible model in one of the busiest parts of the market, with both hybrid and electric versions available in the UK.

This page brings together all of our Alfa Romeo coverage in one place, including Expert Ratings, reviews, news and feature articles, so you can compare the range and see where the brand now fits in the UK market.
