Summary

The Audi Q7 is a large upmarket SUV/crossover with seating for seven. This is the current third-generation Q7 range which arrived in the second half of 2026 and consists of both standard Q7 and sportier SQ7 models.

“It’s a lovely thing to devour miles in”, says Parkers’ Amrit Kaur. “It’ll happily handle a whole family and their luggage in cosseting, quiet comfort.” Alastair Crooks of Auto Express adds that the key improvement this latest iteration of the Q7 offers over its predecessor is improved driving dynamics, with tweaks to the SUV’s chassis and suspension that “should be enough to concern” rival brands like BMW.

The Carwow team likewise calls this latest Q7 a “worthy successor” of the Q7 nameplate, praising the car for its comfort and premium-feel interior. “It’s a shame there aren’t more engine options yet”, they add. This is the most common criticism levied against the new Q7, which is currently only offered with a V6 diesel mild-hybrid powertrain (the more expensive and sporty SQ7 is instead offered with a petrol V8).

Not all outlets conclude that this limited range powertrain options works to the SUV’s disadvantage however. “There’s something almost refreshing about driving a big-hearted turbodiesel in this day and age”, explains the Autotrader team, “and it’s a large part of the overall appeal of the Audi Q7.”
